Prior county resident charged with sexual assault of a minor

A previous resident of the county has been charged with sexual assault of a minor after his alleged victim came forward to report an assault that occurred more than a decade ago.

On November 11, 2023, a Crook County Sheriff’s Office deputy received a report that Morgan Anderson had sexually abused a juvenile female over a decade prior. The abuse occurred in Crook County, though neither party now lives locally.

The alleged victim, during a forensic interview two days later, claimed that Anderson and his now deceased wife routinely babysat her while her parents were gone. During one such incident, the victim described Anderson removing her clothing in the bathroom and restraining her hands, before touching her inappropriately.

The victim was under the age of ten when the incident allegedly occurred. She stated that she recently saw Anderson with a similarly aged girl and was motivated to report the abuse.

Anderson is believed to have been 23 years old at the time of the assault.

Anderson faces felony charges of sexual assault in the first degree and sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree.
