Taco booth supports veterans

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Devils Tower Post #3411 is the recipient of a sizeable donation last week: a third of the proceeds from the delicious treat that has become a hallmark of Burnout Wednesday in Sundance.

The Powder River Energy (PRECorp) walking taco booth, as always, was set up on the corner of the courthouse lawn throughout the busiest day of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this side of the border. It was staffed by volunteers from the cooperative.

The booth raised a total of $3600, all of which was to be directed towards the local charitable work of veteran support groups.

"Adding to the volunteerism of PRECorp employees, the Powder River Energy Foundation matched the funds raised ($3600), dollar-for-dollar – doubling the impact of the booth," PRECorp spokesperson Stephanie Pribilske says.

"Thank you to the motorcycle riders and the local community for stopping by the booth in support of these three non-profit organizations."

PRECorp chose three recipients for this year's donations, all focused on veteran assistance. Post #3411, Heartfelt Quilts of Valor and Hunting With Heroes Wyoming all received $2400.

"These three non-profit entities provide critical support to Veterans in the Sundance and Crook County area, and, with the community's assistance, we are eager to help them out as much as possible," says Pribilske.

Jeff Gregson was on hand last week to receive the money and expressed his post's gratitude and happy surprise to learn it was a beneficiary.

The post, he says, serves veterans throughout Crook County. The funds have not been earmarked for a specific purpose, but rather will be used in upcoming efforts to support veterans.

"We like to do whatever we can do in the community, and it's always about veterans for us," he says.
