Extension Office welcomes 4-H educator

The Crook County Extension Office last week welcomed its newest team member: Erica Reasoner, who will be taking over as the 4-H youth development educator for this area.

The position came open earlier this year when Sara Fleenor, who served as 4-H educator for 12 years, stepped up to become the Ag and Natural Resources Extension Educator.

Fleenor continued to cover the program while UW Extension sought the right person for the job.

On October 15, Reasoner stepped into that role.

Reasoner is a former administrative assistant for Washakie County, where she began working in the extension office in 2022 and took on several volunteer leadership roles within that county's 4-H.

She was a volunteer leader of 4-H activities on projects ranging from photography to shooting sports and fishing and also served as the 4-H council treasurer and co-leader in the South Flats Juniors 4-H Club.

Reasoner was also responsible for creating a junior Master Gardener program for youth with the Worland Community Garden.

"I was not involved in 4-H in my youth but after seeing the impact it has on the lives of youth, I wish I had been able to," said Reasoner.

"After jumping feet first into becoming a 4-H leader and working with youth, I fell in love with community it creates."

Reasoner has a bachelor's degree in general studies from UW and previously worked for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service as a biological science technician, assisting with invasive weed control.
