Patriots struggle against Broncs

The Upton-Sundance Patriots were up against the Burns Broncs this past week, hoping to notch another win to their record. Unfortunately for the Patriots, a sluggish start left the team playing catch-up most of the game, as the Broncs took advantage early and never looked back. 

The Broncs were first to the endzone, putting up seven points within the first quarter, taking the early lead, while the Patriots struggled to find their footing both offensively and defensively. The Broncs kept pressure on the Patriots through the second and third quarters, extending their lead 21-0 with only one quarter of play remaining. 

The Patriots found their momentum throughout the fourth quarter as quarterback Eli Gill connected with Rhett Watt for a two-yard touchdown pass, giving the team their first score of the night. Shortly thereafter, Gill found his way into the endzone on a one-yard run, upping the Patriot score once more.

The Patriots would find their way onto the scoreboard one more time for the night as Lyman Halverson launched a 25-yard touchdown pass to Parker Skeens, sending him into the end zone and adding six more to the board for the Patriots. 

Unfortunately for the Patriots, the Broncs offense was equally unstoppable in the fourth quarter as they matched the Patriot scores, taking a 48-18 victory for the night. 

The team will look to build on their fourth quarter momentum as they take on the Glenrock Herders this Friday, in Upton, at 6 p.m.
