Lighter week for Lady Bulldogs

The Bulldogs volleyball team had a lighter schedule this week as they looked to improve their conference record facing off against the Tongue River Eagles. The Bulldogs brought the intensity, pushing the matchup to a five-set showdown.

The night began on a high note for the Bulldogs, who narrowly took the opening set 26-24, setting the tone early. Sets two and three, however, saw the Bulldogs struggle to maintain their early momentum, as the Eagles surged ahead to take both sets.

Refusing to go down without a fight, the Bulldogs rallied in set four, bouncing back with a 25-19 victory to force the ever decisive fifth set. Both teams traded point for point, but in the end, it was the Eagles who reached 15 first, taking the overall 3-2 conference win.

Despite the setback, there were standout performances from the Bulldog team. Annika Haugen helped the offensive momentum as she put up an impressive 33 assists for the night.

Jaylin Mills and Hailey Karol dominated the offense at the net firing 20 and 15 kills, respectively, while Blakely Gill and Mills contributed on the defensive end recording 21 and 20 digs for the night.

The Bulldogs will have another chance to improve their conference record as they host the Wright Panthers on Saturday. Games will begin at 1 p.m. with the ‘C’ team, followed by JV and varsity.
