Bonnie Jean Beaudoin

Bonnie Jean Beaudoin passed away on August 30, 2024, the day before her 82nd birthday in Gillette, Wyoming. She was born August 31, 1942 on a rural farm near Farmer, South Dakota, to Hie and Margaret Heronimus.

Bonnie was one of five children raised on a farm between Farmer and Emery, South Dakota. She cherished that time in her life and had countless memories and stories of her school days, their church and farming.

After graduation from Farmer High School, Bonnie attended General Beadle State Teachers College in Madison, South Dakota, graduating with her teaching certificate. It was while teaching in eastern South Dakota that Bonnie met and married Robert Beaudoin in 1964. After her wedding, Bonnie and Bob moved to Sundance, Wyoming where they both taught school.

In 1971, Bonnie began clerking at the Sundance US Postal Service office and became the Postmaster in 1980. Bonnie was active with the USPS throughout the State of Wyoming, being named Postmaster of the Year during her tenure in Sundance.

She officially retired in 1999 after 28 years of federal service. She remained active in the Postmaster's Association as a retiree and continued collecting USPS stamps sets until her death.

Bonnie was a mother to five Beaudoin children and second "Mom" and "Grandma" to countless other children throughout the community. Bonnie and Bob made a good home for Mike (Kathleen) Beaudoin, Jan Beaudoin, Eric (Terri) Beaudoin, Guy (Marianne) Beaudoin and Angela (Jim) Butts in Sundance and were blessed with 11 grandchildren and more great-grandchildren.

Bonnie loved cooking and baking, aways having breakfast and supper on the table for the kids, even after working ten-hour days at the post office. For most of her married life, Bonnie planted a large garden that yielded vegetables for the fall, and enough canned goods for the year.

She was known for her Christmas divinity candy, rice crispy treats, cookies and German chocolate cake with homemade frosting.

Bonnie was a Christian and was comfortable in any church for worship. Music was a monumental part of her life and religious songs were her cornerstone.

She sang and accompanied at many ceremonies and services throughout her lifetime. Some of her most cherished memories were singing in church with her father and siblings.

She will be remembered with a song in her heart and pep in her step. She was preceded in death by her father, Hie; mother, Margaret; sister, Sharol Naser and husband, Robert. She may be found, In The Garden.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Sundance. Memorials will be established in Bonnie's name for the United Methodist Church of Sundance, Monday Night Vacation Bible School, (sent C/O Bonnie Beaudoin PO Box 942 Sundance, WY 82729) and/or the Crook County Senior Services at PO Box 648, Sundance, WY 82729.
