Boys team takes third place
The Sundance golf team finished their incredible season with another excellent performance at the state tournament this past weekend. The Lady Bulldogs brought home a championship team performance and the Bulldog boys brought home a third-place team finish.
Savanah Peterson led the Bulldog charge on the girls' side, facing tough competition as she battled against Kemmerer's Tazlyn Wagner. Peterson finished just 16 strokes behind securing second place with a total score of 169.
Avery Marchant and Karen Ulmer were right behind Peterson finishing in seventh and eleventh place, respectively, as Madeline Fleenor and Shyla Shoun rounded out the championship team, with a single stroke separating them. With these standout performances, the Lady Bulldogs claimed the team championship by a commanding 26 strokes, taking home the trophy with an impressive overall score of 594.
The boys' team also delivered a strong performance at the state tournament. Leading the charge was Owen Watt, who claimed fifth place, with an impressive score of 174 for the weekend.
Brother and teammate, Porter, also cracked the top ten securing eighth place with an overall score of 181. Catch Downey and Cash Peterson battled closely throughout the competition and finished in 17th and 18th place respectively.
Haldon Harmon completed the team's scoring with a 242 for the weekend. Thanks to their collective efforts, the Bulldogs earned a third palace team finish, edging out the Wright Panthers, with an overall score of 765.
