Lady Bulldogs play hard

The volleyball team faced a challenging Homecoming week, playing three intense matches, each filled with highs and hard-fought battles. Throughout each game, the team showed their determination and fighting spirit.

On Tuesday, the team traveled to Upton where they took the victory over the Lady Bobcats. Hailey Karol led the offensive charge at the net for the Bulldogs as she racked up 13 kills for the night. Teammate Halyn Cooney also dominated the net for the Bulldogs adding eight kills and five blocks in the victory.

The excitement of Homecoming continued as the Lady Bulldogs opened their conference play in front of the home crowd, on Friday afternoon, against Tongue River. Though they ultimately fell in straight sets, it was not for a lack of effort.

"We fought really, really hard and played really well as a team. I feel like we did well keeping our heads up the whole time," junior Bulldog Hailey Karol commented.

After dropping the first set 17-25, the Sundance team came out swinging in sets two and three. Gaining momentum, the team made the Eagles work for each of their points.

Jaylin Mills and Halyn Cooney were a force to be reckoned with at the net. Mills threw down 13 kills on the night while Cooney racked up five blocks against the heavy hitters of Tongue River. In the end, the Bulldogs came up two points short in each set, falling to the Eagles 3-0.

The week ended on the road for the Lady Bulldogs as they traveled to Wright on Saturday. This was another conference matchup, and this time the team took it to five sets.

Opening play, the Lady Bulldogs set the tone, taking a 27-25 win. The Panthers, however, were not going down without a fight and they took set two 25-21.

In true Bulldog fashion, the Sundance team took a commanding win, 25-14, in set number three, hoping to walk away with an overall victory. Unfortunately, for the Bulldogs, the Panthers pushed set four into extra points and were able to take a 31-29 win and then a quick 15-7 victory in set five, handing the Bulldogs a 3-2 loss.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday as they host the Hulett Red Devils and Saturday afternoon when they travel to face the Newcastle Dogies.
