James Dean Litzel

Funeral services for James Dean Litzel, 79-year-old resident of Four Corners, Wyoming who passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Weston County Hospital in Newcastle Wyoming, were held Friday, September 20, 2024 from the Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Home in Sundance with Pastor Russ Grimm officiating.

Graveside services followed at the Green Mountain Cemetery in Sundance. Friends may donate, in Jimmy Dean's memory to donor's choice or your local FFA chapter.

James Dean Litzel, affectionately known as Jimmy Dean, was born on May 16, 1945. He was raised in Rapid City, South Dakota and Sundance, Wyoming.

He graduated from Sundance High School in 1963. On December 20, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Ellie Litzel, and they began their life together on a ranch near Aladdin, Wyoming.

They spent three years on the 60 Bar Ranch north of Gillette before settling in Buffalo in 1969, where they raised three sons. In 1988, they realized a dream together and purchased a ranch east of Mule Creek Junction.

They enjoyed ranch life until Ellie became ill. She preceded him in death in 2005.

He found love again, marrying Ann Waddell in 2006. They enjoyed spending time on the ranch and at their cabin in the Black Hills.

They were able to build a beautiful home in Four Corners, Wyoming and lived there until the time of his death.

He will be remembered for his mischievous ways with a gleam in his eyes. He loved hunting, horses, guns, working on his numerous Willys Jeeps and spending time with family.

He is survived by his three sons, Rod (Mary) of Buffalo, Wyoming, Rick (Lisa) of Buffalo, Toy (Brenda) of Edgemont, South Dakota; his grandchildren, Sara Wondra (Coley), Andrew Litzel (Brianna), Bryce True (Kelsey), Keni Kae Michelena (Adam), Kasi Jensen (Jace), Kenzi Hepp (James), Kelsey Ditsch (Matt), Jaymie Bachand (Kyle 2) and Kyle Litzel and their children; brothers, Jerry (Pepper), Zeke (Sue); sister, Cheryl Willson and brother-in-law, Doug Steffen. He was proceeded in death by his wife and sister Cindy Steffen.
