Golfers headed to state

The golf team wrapped up their regular season play this past week as they competed in Lusk. Both the boys' and the girls' teams solidified their positions among the top competitors in the state. 

On the girl's side, the Lady Bulldogs took home another team title. Savanah Peterson continued her streak of excellence, finishing in first place for the entirety of the regular season.

Peterson cruised past her competition with a 49-stroke lead, establishing herself as a top contender heading into the state tournament.

Avery Marchant secured a third place finish in the tournament, fending off her closest competitor by three strokes. Teammate Karen Ulmer also had a standout performance, ending the weekend with an overall score of 242, tying for sixth place.

Shyla Shoun and Madeline Fleenor rounded out the Bulldog team finishing in 10th and 11th place, respectively, with one stroke separating them. 

The Bulldog boys also maintained their impressive run of second place team finishes, which they have consistently held throughout the season.

It was close competition for the Bulldog golfers as Porter Watt was the top performer. Watt chipped in a 95 on both days, taking fourth place in the tournament, and finishing with an overall score of 190. 

Owen Watt was not far behind, tying Upton's Landon Butler for sixth place, and just three strokes behind Porter, with a score of 193. Catch Downey and Cash Peterson were next in line for the Bulldogs, taking 11th and 12th place respectively, followed by Nash Downey and Taigon Barber. 

With strong individual performances and consistent team success, both the boys' and girls' teams are looking to make a run next week as they compete in the state tournament in Sheridan on Friday and Saturday.
