Another great week for Bulldog runners

The Bulldog cross country team was in Belle Fourche this past week, against another round of stiff competition. Despite this, the Bulldogs saw another great week of setting personal records (PR).

In sixth grade, Shae Crago competed in her first 3K and took first place for the sixth grade girls. Mason Moeller set the pace for the sixth grade boys, taking 11th place with a time of 12:29 and teammate Tyce Erickson followed shortly thereafter, finishing 19th, followed by Trapper Idler who took 24th in his first cross country meet.

The junior high runners continued to shatter personal records as Eva Stark set the pace, placing 10th and taking almost two minutes off of her time, on this course, from last year, setting a new PR. Remington Johnson, Taylor Ashiem and Trinity Finn also ran the 3K with Ashiem and Finn setting their own PRs as well.

The junior high boys had two Bulldogs compete. Nolan Gaskin set the pace, finishing the course with a time of 13:11 followed by teammate CJ Koep, who set a PR with a time of 14:23.

The JV runners continued the trend of success with Madison Neiman setting a new PR and securing an impressive 10th place finish. While on the boys' side, Rylan Ashiem also set a PR finishing with a time of 24:28.

At the varsity level, three athletes represented the team, with Angel Villegas setting the pace and finishing in 16th with a time of 19:15, followed by teammate Holden Ayer who set a personal record of 20:48 and Jager McLaughlin who crossed the line at 23:52.

"It's exciting to see so many runners earning PRs two weeks in a row, especially as we went from a flat course last week to a hilly one this week. For some of our sixth graders, this was their first 3000m race and they did really well. It will be fun watching them progress throughout the season," coach Ann Marie Mickle stated.

The Bulldog runners will be back on the course this week as they host their Sundance invite on Friday morning, 9am, at the Sundance Golf Course.
