Michael J. Stein

Michael J. Stein, 48, of Moorcroft, Wyoming, passed away on September 10, 2024. Michael was born on June 18, 1976 in Mohall, North Dakota to Thomas and Karen Stein. The family moved to Gillette in 1977 where Mikey grew up.

He married Kathy Blausey in 1998 and they had two children, Trevor and Kimberly. They later divorced.

Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter. He collected eagles, swords and guns. He liked to joke and have fun with his friends and family.

Like most men of Wyoming, Mike had many career opportunities throughout his short life, including as a roofer and an oil field hand. After 20 years in the oil field industry, Mike worked at Eagle Butte Coal Mine for three years, until the time of his untimely death.

Mike is survived by his children, Trevor Stein of Fort Worth, Texas and Kimberly (Mason) Stein of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Kirk (Pam) of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Kirby (Jill) of Columbia, South Carolina; sisters, Kristi (Dan) Trunk of Sundance, Wyoming, Kendra (Robert) Brownfield of Evansville, Wyoming, Tami (Tim) Klein of Ozard, Illinois, Tracy of Minot, North Dakota and Ardelle (Lynn) Schmidt of Mohall, North Dakota; in addition to various nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, TJ and Karen Stein and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held on October 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Gillette Memorial Chapel, Gillette, Wyoming. There will be a luncheon following. In honor of Mikey's memory, please do not dress up, but instead wear either a Denver Broncos T-Shirt or a T-Shirt with an eagle or an American Flag.
