Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884
On the afternoon of August 25, 2024, Devin Fraser shed his earthly struggles and was free to fly.
Devin James Fraser was born on May 23, 1988, to Peggy and Andy Fraser, joining big brother Nolan and bringing another level of joy to the Fraser household. Joy, kindness, and a little bit of mischief were Devin's constant companions. Whether teasing his brother or offering a kind word or gesture to someone in need, Devin knew how to bring light into any room.
Devin grew up in Moorcroft, attending K-12, playing baseball, basketball and football graduating in 2006. He continued his education at Laramie, Chadron and Sheridan colleges where he continued to embrace physical fitness. Devin's ultimate love was music, where he found a way to express who he was. Whether he was strumming a guitar, playing his drums or singing along with his friends, music was his sanctuary. He also excelled at mixing music.
From his early years, Devin embraced life with boundless energy and compassion. He loved art and was so proud of his tattoos – many of which he designed. His grandmother Lila, didn't see them as works of art but always supported him in all his endeavors and said, "No matter what, we love him anyway." His mother will forever miss those big, heartfelt hugs and the frequent "I love you."
Devin was an I & E specialist and worked in that career field for various companies.
Devin is survived by his loving parents; his brother, Nolan and wife Megan; nephew, Paxton; niece, Paisley; new baby daughter, Alila; and special friends, Dwayne, Cheryl, Matt and Brett Schneider and Jami Mazen. Greatly appreciated are his friends who stood by him during his many trials.
Devin was preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Virginia Fraser and Kenneth and Lila Dudrey. Devin was especially close to Grandma Lila and named his daughter Alila Lyric in her memory.
We are thankful for the time we had with Devin and will forever cherish the memory of his smile and big heart.
Services were held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Gillette, Wyoming with a reception following.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Sundance, Wyoming.
A memorial in Devin's name will be determined at a later date.
