The cause of a fire that claimed a family residence last week is still under investigation.
The fire was reported at 4:15 a.m. on Friday morning at a single family dwelling on Beaver Creek Road, southwest of Sundance.
The smoke was spotted and called in by neighbors to the north, says Fire Warden Charlie Harrison.
According to Harrison, units were dispatched to respond to a structure fire and arrived at the scene to find that the building was fully engulfed and there was already some spread to the surrounding vegetation.
Fortunately, the homeowners were not in residence at the time of the fire.
Firefighters responded to the blaze from Sundance and Moorcroft Volunteer Fire Departments and Zone 19. It took several hours to bring it under control, says Harrison.
No injuries or fatalities were reported to fire personnel or members of the public.
The home was a complete loss.
At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office.
