Shirley Ann Beagle

Shirley Ann (Lincoln) Beagle passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Fountain Springs Healthcare Center with family by her side.

Shirley was born in Beulah, Wyoming, on August 15, 1938. She was the second of three daughters born to Orville and Evelyn (Summers) Lincoln. The family ranched on "The Divide" near Sundance, Wyoming.

Shirley graduated from Sundance High School in 1956 and the National College of Business (now National American University) in 1957. She started her professional career at the ASCS office and as the City Clerk of Sundance.

Shirley married Larry Beagle 65 years ago on October 26, 1958. Three children, Shelley, Lori and Jay were born to this union.

The young family moved to Rapid City in 1966 and Shirley began her new career as a stay-at-home mom. During that time her children and their activities were her focus. She was a Brownie Scout leader, room mother, Sunday school teacher, PTA member, church secretary, cheerleader, chauffeur and seamstress for any activities her children were involved in.

After her kids were grown, she worked for the Pennington Conservation District in Rapid City, David D. Chase and Co. in Flagstaff, Arizona, Harold Doerr, DDS, and the Pennington County Register of Deeds in Rapid City. She retired in 2012.

Shirley and Larry began their retirement careers in 1993 as grandparents to Jacie, Riann, Tyler and Taylor. They attended their grandkids' plays, baseball, softball, volleyball, football, swimming and academic events all over the Black Hills. This kept them busier than their actual jobs!

Shirley loved to fish and camp with her family and later with her kids' families. Planning these trips revolved around the meals: Dinty Moore stew (for the first night), homemade chicken and noodles and steak were the staples. Red licorice, Sun Chips and kid beer were "for the grandkids".

She was known for her cabbage burgers, cut-out sugar cookies, rhubarb crisp and her delicious potato salad, to which she always said, "I didn't get a good do on it this time".

In 2016, Shirley was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. The disease progressed and we had to put her into the care of Fountain Spring Healthcare Center in March of 2021.
