ATV accidents injure four

Two separate four-wheeler accidents took place over the Memorial Day weekend, both of them leading to injuries.

The incidents took place on Saturday, the first at 3:45 p.m. and the second in the evening, at around 8 p.m. All four individuals involved in the accidents are believed to be Campbell County residents.

“One was up in the area of Cook Lake and the other one was down the Grand Canyon-Wagon Canyon area,” says Undersheriff Alex Jessen.

“Both involved two passengers on one four-wheeler and both were probably going too fast for the roads.”

In both cases, the four-wheeler left the road and the two passengers were ejected from each vehicle. All four passengers sustained injuries.

The road conditions are not believed to have been unusually wet or muddy. In one case, says the Undersheriff, skid marks were visible on dry gravel.

Neither accident involved suspicious circumstances, according to Jessen.

EMS and Crook County Sheriff’s Office responded to both incidents, with all four passengers transported for medical assistance.

“I don’t believe helmets were used on any of the four people,” Jessen says.

With the summer season now upon us, the Undersheriff would like to remind recreationists to enjoy the sunshine responsibly.

“In summer riding season, watch your speed and wear your safety equipment,” he says.
