Great finish for track season

School records broken in three events

This weekend marked the end of a remarkable track season for the Sundance Bulldogs, who showcased exceptional talent at the state track meet.

School records were broken in three events as the athletes' hard work throughout the season paid off.

Halyn Cooney set a new school record in the 800M race with a time of 2:27.07; Maddison Neiman, Jaylin Mills, Rylie Marchant and Halyn Cooney beat the girl's medley relay record with a time of 4:27.43; and the boy's medley relay, composed of Holden Ayer, Jake Schommer, Keaton Mills and Ryder Downey, also set a new school record with a time of 3:43.14.

Along with breaking school records, many athletes placed in their respective events.

Keaton Mills came home a state champion in the discus, throwing 155-05. Mills also placed third in the high jump.

Other field event placers included Parker Skeens (third long jump, sixth triple jump) and Jake Schommer (fifth high jump). Angel Villegas and Ryder Downey represented the Bulldogs in the individual running events finishing fourth in the 800 and fifth in the 400M races respectively.

On the girls' side, Maddison Neiman finished fifth in the 200M, and took 6th in the 400M, while Blakely Gill placed eighth in the 300M hurdles. For the field events Jaylin Mills took third in the discus and eighth in the shot put, and teammate Riley Banker finished 6th in the discus.
