Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884
Mark Louis Huseby, 65, of Hulett, Wyoming, passed away on May 6, 2024. He was born December 25, 1958, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, to Eric and Jeannie Huseby.
Mark attended country school on the Huseby Ranch from kindergarten through 2nd grade. He would go out at recess and milk the family cow "Ginger" for a quick cup of milk. Mark then attended Hulett School, where he graduated.
While in high school, he met a lovely young lady, Terry Ridinger. The two married on January 2, 1976 and planted roots on the Huseby family ranch, where they had two amazing sons, Travis and TJ.
Mark worked for the family logging business with his dad and brother, Kelly. Later, Mark and Kelly purchased their first airplane together, even though neither one knew how to fly.
In 1985, Mark got his pilot's license, and he did the flying and gunned for himself for 40-plus years with over 23,000-plus hours of flying.
He went above and beyond for his job. One time he went night scoping, looking for a coyote that was killing sheep on the South Ridge Road, and got the kill successfully.
Mark always had hands on deck, with people willing to help when he needed them. You know who you are! He enjoyed the many years of flying for Carter, Powder River and Crook County.
Mark was a loving and devoted dad to both of his sons. He always enjoyed attending the boys' and grandsons' sporting events. He was a big part of their lives and was always there. Mark was a loving son, husband, brother and dad.
Mark is survived by Terry, his wife of 48 years; mom, Jeannie; son, TJ (Stephanie); granddaughter, Kaylyn; grandson, Traven; great-granddaughter, Jayde; brother, Kelly (Sue) Huseby; nephew, Shane (Kenda) Huseby; niece, Amber (Sean) Kaplan and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his son, Travis; his dad, Eric; nephew, Cody; grandparents, aunts, numerous uncles and brothers-in-law, Jerry and Jim Ridinger.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Greater Hulett Community Center in Hulett.
