Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884
Due to the recent and expected continuation of rainfall throughout May, Crook County Fire Warden Charles Harrison, in accordance with Crook County Resolution #2024-9, has announced the temporary lifting of the countywide burn ban effective immediately.
This decision comes after careful consideration of the current weather patterns and their impact on local fire risk levels.
The lifting of the burn ban will be in effect through May 31, at which time the situation will be reassessed based on the latest weather conditions and fire risk assessments. The county reserves the right to reinstate the burn ban if there is a shift in the forecast that could increase the risk of wildfires.
Prior to any burning, notify the Sheriff’s office at 307-283-1225.
“We urge residents that, while the burn ban is lifted, all burning activities be conducted responsibly,” said Harrison. “While the rains have helped reduce the immediate fire risk, conditions can change, and we must all be prepared to adapt quickly.”
Residents will be promptly notified of any updates or changes to this directive. For ongoing updates and more information, please contact the Crook County Fire Warden’s office.
