Following a two-day class put on by the University of Utah and taught by experts in the field of EMS and Emergency, CCMSD staff had the opportunity to become certified in "The Difficult Airway Course: EMS".
Fueled by great food and a desire to provide even higher-quality care to our community, members of CCMSD's EMS crew, nursing staff and providers participated in hands-on training that included recognizing a difficult airway, video laryngoscopy and other advanced imaging devices, medication-assisted intubation, pediatric intubation, endotracheal tube introducers, cricothyrotomy and Extraglottic devices.
Students broke into groups and the trainers put them into training exercises that encouraged teamwork, critical thinking skills, empathy and practicing of new techniques.
Many mannequins' lives were saved in these training exercises and due to this phenomenal class, CCMSD has already taken what was learned and our Acute Care and EMS departments are putting those skills into action to bring our services even bring our services even further into the future.
