Chilly day for Sundance Invite

With snowflakes in the air, the Sundance track and field team hosted their Sundance Invite last Friday, bringing the regular season to a close. Despite the weather, the Bulldog athletes competed at the top of their game.

The Lady Bulldogs continued to hold strong in the 400 and 800M races. Maddison Neiman, Rylie Marchant and Phoebe Skeens stayed close throughout the 400M, with about a four-second time difference between the three, they finished the race taking second, fourth and fifth, respectively.

The girl's 800M was a similar story. Haylyn Cooney took the top honors finishing with a time of 2:31.50, while teammates Karly Marchant and Taylor Dailey took third and fifth in the event.

In the field events, Riley Banker and Jaylin Mills took the top two spots in discus, throwing 108-7 and 102-8, respectively. 

The Bulldog boys dominated the high jump event, with Keaton Mills taking first (6-2), Jake Schommer second (6-0), and Catch Downey finishing third (5-8). The Bulldog athletes also saw success within their running events. Ryder Downey took the top spot in the 400M with a time of 53.57, Angel Villegas finished first in the 800M (2:11.12), and the sprint medley relay, composed of Holden Ayer, Jake Schommer, Ryder Downey and Keaton Mills finished first with a time of 3:46.92.

The Sundance team will move on to regionals this week as they host the 1A/2A East Regional meet at Croell Field on Friday, May 10. Field events will begin at 10 a.m.
