Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884

Letter to the Editor

Howdy, I am writing this letter in regards to Crook County Commissioners, who have demonstrated very little knowledge of their duties and responsibilities to the taxpayers of Crook County. I have been asking since day one for the County to maintain and plow a quarter mile of Old Sundance Road.

This is for 17 families, to include 33 adults. The Commissioners voted against this request, for the following reasons:

1. They don’t have the funds or resources to do this.

2. If they would do this, it would open a can of worms.

3. Commissioners stated historically no new roads have been added to the list of plowed roads in decades.

4. When I asked for the historical date, the commissioners told me they did not know the date.

So, are we to believe that all the county roads that are currently being plowed were already being plowed before this historical date?

They were also asked if they had criteria in place for the changing demographics in Crook County. They stated, NO.

Now to be fair to the Crook County Commissioners, maybe this is above their ability to deal with the following: 1. A can of worms, 2. The changing demographics in Crook County, 3. When using a historical date, you should know what that date really is and where is the money from the huge increase in property taxes gone.

At the last Commissioner meeting I asked why they are plowing Moskee Road, from where the pavement ends, 6.3 miles one way to the gate for the Moskee Land Corp for one family and Snooks Rd. 3.2 miles one way for three families. They refused to answer.

If you live on a county road and the commissioners are refusing to plow the county road you rely on, come to the next Commissioners meeting on April 3, 2024 at 10 a.m.
