Devils Tower FFA hosted the countywide FFA Creed and Speech Competition Feb. 21 at the Hulett School. The annual contest is sponsored by the Crook County Farm Bureau Federation. Congratulations to all the participants for a great job representing your chapters.
Creed Speaking contestants recited the FFA Creed by E.M. Tiffany and answered questions from the judges. First place went to Loni Gill from Moorcroft FFA, second place went to Abby Stroud from Moorcroft FFA and third place to Kimber Robinson from Moorcroft FFA. Sundance's Maria Villegas participated in the Creed contest and moves on to the district competition scheduled for this week.
Prepared Public Speaking contestants are scored in three areas, a manuscript, 6-8 minute presentation and response to questions, on an agricultural related topic of their choosing. Craig Robinson from Moorcroft FFA, placed first in the Prepared division.
Extemporaneous Public Speaking contestants chose a topic from three randomly selected topics, then were given 30 minutes to research and prepare a 4-6 minute speech. First place was awarded to Ahnya Ivie-Moody from Devils Tower FFA.
The high school contestants will move to the next level of competition in their respective contests at the district level.
Judges for the contest were Farm Bureau Federation County secretary Zeta Nuckolls Anderson, Jim Palus and Charlie McClain.
