Decking the halls

Smokey the Bear was on hand last week to help Sundance's fourth graders decorate the Christmas tree in the Bearlodge Ranger District Office's reception area. The kids were invited on a special field trip to hear a presentation about trees, and the important role they play in our world, and then decorate their own slices of tree trunk, or "tree cookies". Once complete, Smokey arrived as a special surprised and watched on as the kids hung their ornaments from the branches of the tree, brightening up the office for the season.
