Devota Dawn Hadley, 90, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Custer Monument Health.
Devota was born March 22, 1933, the fourth and last child of Bert and Amy (Coon) Ferwerda in Murdo, South Dakota.
The family lived in the Okaton area and Devota graduated high school in Belvidere. Devota attended Secretarial/Bookkeeping College in Pierre where she met and married Billie Creasman.
The couple traveled while Billie worked construction on I-25 and I-90, making their home in Rapid City full time. To this union, three children were born: Richard, Ramona and Letha.
Devota continued living in Rapid City while raising her three children as a single mom. Her employment included Dr. Harold Fromm, Benson Optical and New York Life Insurance. In her retirement years, she enjoyed working at the Visitors Center of the Black Hills.
Devota married Robert H. Hadley, Jr. and the couple retired to Custer to enjoy their remaining years near daughters, Ramona and Letha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her son, Richard; and her grandson, Daniel. Her husband, Robert, passed on October 22, 2023. The soulmates are now together.
Devota is survived by her daughters: Ramona Flaig, Custer; Letha (Mark) Hughes, Custer; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Graveside services for Devota and Robert Hadley will be held at Custer Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
