There are jingles in the distance and Sundance is ready to welcome Santa back to town. Coming up next weekend is the grand Christmas kick-off, with events from wreaths to candy tasting for the family to enjoy.
As always, the Festival of Lights will begin the festivities, illuminating Main Street at 5:30 p.m. on December 1. This year’s theme is “Sugar Plums and Magical Memories”.
The winner of the Shop Small Punch Card event from the previous weekend will be announced during the parade.
If the weather is a little chilly for your liking, stop in beforehand or after the floats have passed for hot cocoa and cookies at the Crook County Library and Rehab Solutions.
Then head over to the Crook County Museum in Old Stoney for an open house, a visit with Santa and a candy contest. If you’d like to enter, submit 70 bite size pieces of your sweetest treat – the winner will walk away with a gift basket full of goodies.
Crook County Library will also be presenting its annual Wonderland of Wreaths, all of which will be sold via silent auction to benefit the Crook County Library Foundation. Taking place in the courthouse community room, visitors are invited to vote for your favorite wreath for the People’s Choice Award.
A limited number of wreaths can be picked up to decorate at the library. Decorated wreaths should be dropped off during business hours on November 30 or before noon on December 1.
At the same time in the courthouse basement, EMS will be hosting their annual chili feed and fundraiser, including hot cocoa, apple cider and coffee provided by Sundance United Methodist Church.
Good will donations are requested at a minimum of $5 per person. Door prizes will be offered, as well as a special massage gift certificate for the 111th person to arrive.
Meanwhile, beginning at 3 p.m. and continuing until 7:30 p.m., Crook County Senior Services will host a craft bazaar at the admin office on Main Street. Coffee and hot chocolate will be available.
