Jami Marie Brown, age 40, of Sundance, Wyoming, passed away quietly October 27 at the Monument Health hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota, after a long and hard-fought battle with renal failure.
Jami was born in Fallon, Nevada, on November 16, 1982, to Kelly and Paula Brown. She grew up in Hulett, Wyoming and graduated from Hulett High School.
She enjoyed rodeo and working with horses. She loved helping on the ranch and doing ranch work for other people.
Jami was always ready to help anyone who needed a hand up. She was passionate about working for the Lusk Senior Center and gained many friends there.
Her elderly clients were very special friends and she advocated strongly for the elderly there to help them stay in their homes as long as possible and to get the help they needed.
Her sons, Samuel Joseph Oliva and Wyatt Wayne Pettyjohn, were the great loves of her life. There was nothing she wouldn't do to give them a happy life. Her love for them shined brightly when she was with them and will forever be a light in their lives.
She is survived by her mother, Paula Brown; stepdad, Joe Gantz; sons, Samuel Oliva and Wyatt Pettyjohn; sisters, Elissa (Joe) Niemeyer and Jodi Gantz (Dallas Steen); grandmother, Diane Brown; nieces, Arianna Niemeyer and Jessica Niemeyer; nephew, Joseph Steen; and many extended family members including uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Tony and Geraldine Big Crow-Marchant, and Delvin Brown; and father, Kelly Brown.
Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Hulett, with a light lunch served following services. Burial Services to be held at a later date at the family ranch.
Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD.
