Don Wilbur

Don Wilbur, age 42 of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, died Thursday, October 26, 2023 from injuries sustained in a tragic single vehicle accident near Sundance, Wyoming.

The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche, with Kim Bachman officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Inurnment will take place 10 a.m. Monday, November 6, at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers for the future college education of Don's two children.

Donald Lee Wilbur was born July 3, 1981 in Spearfish, South Dakota. He was the son of Willie and Judy (Hauso) Wilbur. Don grew up in the Nisland area and graduated from the Newell High School in 2000. While in high school, Don enjoyed sports and he was a talented basketball player. He earned a degree in Deisel Technology from Larimee Community College in Cheyenne Wyoming and following he spent five years working as a night manager for West River International Truck Dealership in Rapid City.

In 2006, he began working for Bickles Truck Repair in Belle Fourche. On his birthday that year, Don met his future wife, Pam Calhoon.

Don and Pam were united in marriage on July 23, 2011 at the Nisland Community Church. To this union, two children were born: Aubrey in 2009 and Brady in 2013.

Don was a very loving husband and father. He loved his family so very much. He was a big supporter of his kids and the activities they were involved in. Even their friends enjoyed being around Don.

Since 2007, Don has been the mechanic and "Chief P.R. Man" at Wilbur Repair. He was a talented mechanic and very talented at getting to know people. He was a gentle giant, a likeable man. To know him was to call him friend. He was a great cook and a fan of the Green Bay Packers.

Don is survived by his wife Pam and their children, Aubrey and Brady of Belle Fourche; mother, Judy of Belle Fourche; father, Willie (Carol) of Belle Fourche; brother, Robert of Nisland and his children, Dylan and Hayley; brother, Mike (Kody) of Belle Fourche; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Don is also survived by his mother-in-law, Daphne Calhoon of Belle Fourche; sisters-in-law, Susan (Russ) Bauer of Belle Fourche, Angel Calhoon of Belle Fourche; brother-in-law, Eric (Teagan) Calhoon of Valley City, North Dakota; as well as his step-mother's children, Angel (Kord) Foster of Greybull, Wyoming, Curt (Rachael) Foster of Belle Fourche and Kevin Foster of Belle Fourche.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sidney and Ruth Hauso; and paternal grandparents, Tom Wilbur and Agnes Garcia.
