Bruce Langdon McAmis, age 94 of Alva, Wyoming peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 22, 2023.
Bruce was born February 9, 1929 to Carp and Elizabeth (Langdon) McAmis. He was the oldest of seven children. On June 24, 1950, Bruce married Peggy Charlene Shaul and they were married 70 years and 11 months.
Bruce was a lifelong farmer and rancher in the Alva area. Bruce was well known for his friendly personality, always looking to make a new friend with a FIRM handshake.
He raised quality hay, wheat seed that was highly sought after by Farmers Ranchers Coop and Hereford/Angus cattle. In the early 1950s, Bruce and his father-in-law Charlie Shaul would trail their cattle to Belle Fourche to ship to market.
Bruce was still out in the hay field raking hay two weeks prior to his passing. Bruce was a John Deere man to the core, a horseshoe pitching champion with his brother Charles and could smell a good cinnamon roll or biscuits and gravy a mile away. Bruce and Peggy enjoyed traveling in their RV during the winter months to the desert southwest and California.
Bruce is survived by his sister, Beverly Reece, Casper, Wyoming; children, Dave (Peggy) McAmis, Alva, Alvin (Patty) McAmis, Whitewood, South Dakota, Cheryl McAmis, Alva; grandchildren. Brad (Gail) Svoboda, Castle Pines, Colorado, Brook Svoboda, Anthem, Arizona, Libby (Scott) Penner, Livermore, California, Molly (Adam) Bauer, Scottsdale Arizona, Jason (Karen) McAmis, Fayetteville, North Carolina, Shaun (Sheri) McAmis, Spearfish, South Dakota, great-grandchildren, Cole, Lauren (Josh), Brian, Caleb, Naomi, Abigail, Collin, Langdon, Wilson, Andrew; great-great granddaughter, Ranier and soon to arrive great-grandson, Jack; daughter-in-law, Marti McAmis and son-in-law, Ed Svoboda.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Carp and Libby McAmis; in-laws, Charlie and Esther Shaul; wife, Peggy McAmis; daughter, Kathleen Svoboda; great grandson, Evan Svoboda; brothers, Charles and Bob and sisters, Nina, Marjorie and Thelma.
A memorial has been established to benefit the Hulett EMTs.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Great Hulett Community Center in Hulett with burial taking place at the Alva Cemetery.
