During an electrical storm last Friday evening, Mrs. Fred Mann, of Aladdin, who was in the yard at her home attending to some chickens, was shocked by a bolt of lightning and rendered unconscious, remaining in that condition for two hours. Mrs. Leslie Cook, who was with Mrs. Mann, at the time, was also rendered unconscious for a few moments, but soon recovered. Mr. Mann and several other men were home at the time of the accident feared for awhile that Mrs. Mann was dead, but the lady apparently is none the worse for her unusual experience.
Eddie Vines and Tucker Proctor of Hulett were in town Saturday and Sunday. While here they ordered some bills announcing a big roundup at Devils Tower Saturday, August 25. While the boys have some of the hardest bucking horses in this country, what promises to be the big feature of the day will be the exhibition rides of W.D. Ripley on Golden Rule and Harry Record on Funeral Wagon. These horses have built for themselves a reputation as bad actors and the riding of them promises to be exciting.
M.J. Wachtell, head of the state prohibition league, was in Sundance Sunday for a conference with local enforcement officers. Mr. Wachtell frankly admits that Crook is the most orderly county in the state and thereby complimented the present staff of the sheriff’s office.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Brislawn of Oshoto report having seen a mountain lion leap across the highway about one-half mile east of the Wonderview store at six p.m. one evening. The Brislawns were on their way home from Sundance at the time. Mrs. Emily Martin of Oshoto reports that some strong animal tore part of the roof from her chicken house and took some chickens. She thinks nothing less than a lion could have done it.

Crook County’s request to have the Warren Peak – Air Force Cantonment Road shifted from the county road system to the state secondary system has been denied by the Wyoming Highway Commission. However, WHD, in its letter, approved the county’s request for resurfacing the road by the Wyoming Highway Department in its 1974 work schedule with the cost of the project to be paid for by the county.
