Jenerou sentenced for spate of area burglaries

A man currently serving up to ten years in the Wyoming State Penitentiary after pleading guilty to burglary and theft in Weston County has pleaded guilty to similar charges in Crook County and sentenced with up to ten years of incarceration.

According to court documents, Donald Jenerou stole items in both Hulett and Moorcroft in October, 2021.

On October 14, 2021, Moorcroft Police Department took a report of a burglary at the Converse Carwash and Laundromat in which $4500 in cash, computer hard drives (including from a security system), keys and cameras were taken.

The officer contacted Hulett Police Department to advise of the burglary, and reports that he discovered a similar burglary had taken place in Hulett on October 7. The officer then contacted Gillette Police Department and was advised of two additional burglaries matching the one in Moorcroft on October 11.

Finally, the officer contacted Upton Police Department as he was aware of burglaries taking place in Weston County of the same nature. He was advised that the suspect in these thefts was Jenerou and that he was believed to have stolen security cameras in the Weston County burglaries, too.

Dispatch sent out a teletype to surrounding agencies asking for information of similar burglaries.

On October 19, Lead Police Department provided information that Belle Fourche Police Department and Butte County Sheriff’s Office deputies had arrested two subjects they believed were involved in the burglary of the carwash after serving a search warrant on Jenerou’s camp trailer.

During that search, approximately $3000 was located along with several hard drives from security systems.

Photographs of the items showed a hard drive with a registration number matching the one provided by the owner of the Converse Carwash and Laundromat, as well as key tags matching those used by the business.

Damage at the carwash to four doors, three change machines and the security system totaled more than $1000.

Jenerou was charged with felony counts of burglary, theft and property destruction, each carrying maximum penalties of ten years of incarceration, a $10,000 fine or both. Appearing for his sentencing by video chat from the Wyoming State Penitentiary, he pleaded guilty to the felony charge as part of a plea agreement.

Jenerou is currently serving eight to ten years after pleading guilty to counts of burglary and theft in October, 2022 in Weston County District Court. His appeal to the Wyoming Supreme Court against this sentence was turned down on May 10.

Judge Stuart S. Healy III sentenced him to between eight and ten years of incarceration, to be served concurrently with sentences from Weston County, Butte County, SD and Campbell County.

Jenerou was ordered to pay $12,428.83 in restitution to the Converse Carwash and Laundromat.
