Spirit of the Bear Lodge

Local authors Pat Frolander, Andi Hummel and Viktoria Peterson are proud to offer a second collection of work from the Bearlodge Writers, Spirit of the Bear Lodge, launching on July 8, 2023.

Spirit of the Bear Lodge is a celebration of poetry, fiction, essay and memoir with wide-ranging themes. The works in this volume encompass the best of the Bearlodge Writers, a critique group based in Sundance, founded in 1979.

Bearlodge Writers was first envisioned as a place where writers could gather to share, create and encourage each other. Its members stretch from the western shadow of the Bighorns to Maine.

Over the years, this group’s published work has rippled outward – regionally, nationally and internationally.

According to Linda Hasselstrom, author of Walking: the Changes, “Their voices echo and sing, piercing the fog of our daily lives, bringing new hymns of entertainment, reflection, grief, healing and contentment.”

Aaron Lindsau of Sastrugi Press calls the anthology “unexpectedly touching,” and writer and educator Dawn Wink, PhD, proclaims, “The honesty, humanity, compassion and strength of the writers took my breath away again and again.”

Please join the Bearlodge Writers to celebrate their latest publication at the Sundance Library on July 8, beginning at 2 p.m. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Authors will read from their works as well as sell and sign copies.
