Light up the skies

Watch the sky light up this holiday at the annual Devils Tower celebration of Independence Day or head over to the fireworks exhibition at Keyhole State Park on July 1, a fundraiser hosted by the Pine Haven Volunteer Fire Department.

At the lake, free park admittance begins at 8 p.m. and the fireworks begin as dark falls. The event draws a big crowd and the park is expected to be at capacity, so attendees are advised to arrive early to get a good spot. Donations received help cover the costs of the fireworks and also equip the fire department's personnel and maintain the fire trucks.

Over at the Devils Tower KOA on July 4 itself, the annual celebration of American pride will offer food trucks and bounce houses. Once again, visitors can show pride in their appearance by entering the 'Merica the Great Mullet Contest at 4 p.m., before which the All-American Corn Hole Tournament will test your skills from 1 p.m.

Enjoy live music from Dakota Country Band as evening falls. Then, as the skies grow dark, the KOA is promising the largest fireworks display in the region.
