Sundance man charged for failing to register as a sex offender

A Sundance man has been charged with a felony for failing to register as a sex offender in Crook County.

According to court documents, the Crook County Sheriff's Office received information that Johnnie Ronco was living in this county but had not registered as a sex offender. The last known place in which he was registered was Canon City, Colorado.

A deputy attempted to make contact with Ronco at his residence and then at his place of employment. Ronco allegedly replied in the affirmative when asked if he was a registered sex offender and confirmed he had not registered since living in Wyoming.

When asked why he had no done so, the deputy reports that Ronco said, "I did not know where to go."

Ronco faces one felony count of failure to register as a sex offender, which carries a maximum penalty of five years of incarceration, a $1000 fine or both.
