Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884

Movie and a message

Head to the courthouse basement in a couple of weeks for an afternoon movie and pizza party with the added opportunity to learn how hazards are tackled in this county.

Intended for both newcomers to the county and long-time residents who would like to know more about how local firefighting works and how to keep yourself and your property safe from wildfire, the free event is sponsored by Crook County Emergency Management and the Local Emergency Planning Committee.

On Saturday, July 22, watch acclaimed movie “Only the Brave”. Starring Josh Brolin, Jeff Bridges and Andie MacDowell, it tells the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite crew of Arizona firefighters who lost all but one member fighting a fire in June, 2013.

Pizza and pop will be offered to attendees during the event. The movie will be followed by a presentation from the U.S. Forest Service on fire safety, firefighting and more.

Please note that the movie is rated PG-13, so attendees under the age of 14 should be accompanied by an adult.
