Bulldog track team does great at State

The 2023 track season came to a close this past weekend as the Sundance Bulldogs competed in the 2A State Track and Field Meet in Casper. Junior Keaton Mills won the high jump competition with a jump of 6-02.

The Bulldog relay teams both fared well with a third place finish; the girls 1600 sprint medley, composed of Blakely Gill, Jaylin Mills, Karly Marchant and Zoe Skeens finished with a time of 4:41.23. The boys 4x800, made up of Catch Downey, Angel Villegas, Ryder Downey and Keaton Mills, finished in 8:34.55. 

Individual placers for the Lady Bulldogs included Jaylin Mills who came away with a fifth and eighth place finish in the shot put and discus and teammate Zoe Skeens came in fourth in the 400m race. On the boys' side, Ryder Downey finished in eighth place in the 400m race, Jake Schommer took seventh in the high jump and Keaton Mills placed fourth in the discus. 

All conference honors went to Zoe Skeens, Jaylin Mills, Keaton Mills and the Lady Bulldog 1600m sprint relay: Blakely Gill, Jaylin Mills, Karly Marchant, Zoe Skeens. 

Bulldog senior Zoe Skeens was also name athlete of the year for 2023

Girls 1600 Sprint Medley – 3. Blakely Gill, Jaylin Mills, Karly Marchant, Zoe Skeens 4:41.23

Girls Shot Put – 5. Jaylin Mills 31-07

Girls Discus – 8. Jaylin Mills 96-09

Boys 400M – 8. Ryder Downey 53.07

Boys 4x800M Relay – 3. Catch Downy, Angel Villegas, Ryder Downey, Keaton Mills 8:34.55

Boys High Jump – 1. Keaton Mills 6-02, 7. Jake Schommer 5-08

Boys Discus – 4. Keaton Mills 129-10

The SHS girls and boys teams both finished in 11th place.
