Stanton Thomas Dodson

Stanton Thomas Dodson of Moorcroft, Wyoming, passed away quietly March 21, 2023, at Fort Meade VA Medical Hospital.

He was born on June 26, 1935, in Sparta, Tennessee, to Fred and Mary Dodson. Stan joined the US Air Force in 1956 and served for four years.

He then went to work as a Colorado State Patrolman and also worked in a California winery before rejoining the Air Force in 1966 and serving an additional 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, Stan worked as a safety inspector with OSHA before finally retiring in Wyoming.

Stan was a Mason and a Shriner. He was also a horseman and an avid outdoorsman.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lee and Mary Elizabeth Dodson; sisters, Mollie Crim, Ella Midgett, Beatrice Stafford; and his only brother, Fred Dodson. All who are very missed.

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Dodson and Linda Matthews of California and Kimberly (Randy) McCann of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Jaimie Matthews, Amanda Matthews and Colten (Elizabeth) McCann; two great grandchildren, Anastasia and Ash McCann; sister, Zella (Larry) Cook; and several other family members and friends.

He will be greatly missed.

A Masonic funeral service was held Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Black Hills Funeral Home. Burial took place at Black Hills National Cemetery following the service. Military honors were provided by Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard.
