County unemployment rate stays static

Like the rest of Wyoming, Crook County has seen a period of stability in its employment rates over the past few months – and is the only county to see no change at all across the past year.

While most counties have experienced increases or decreases, unemployment between January 2022 and 2023 remained completely static at 3.6%.

Crook was the only county to see no change in this time period at all.

Elsewhere, 13 counties saw increases in unemployment – the largest of which was a jump from 3.7% to 4.9% in Niobrara) and nine saw decreases (the largest being a drop from 3.9% to 3.3% in Converse).

The overall rate of unemployment in Wyoming has risen from 3.2% in April, 2022 to 3.9% in January, 2023, after remaining stable at the latter rate since October.

The lowest unemployment rate in the state in January was Teton County at 2.7%, while the highest was Fremont and Big Horn at 5.2%.
