Stateline Shootout cut short due to weather

The Sundance Bulldogs were able to dig out of the snow and play one game of the Stateline Shootout on Friday. Rescheduling to just the varsity, the Bulldogs hosted the Newcastle Dogies.

“The boys played well coming off a week of no practice,” commented head coach Nic Olson, “It took us a little bit to get into the game but overall I was happy with their performance after a long break.”

Despite their slow start, the Bulldog defense fueled their offense. Keaton Mills led the charge with eight steals for the night and put up an impressive 36 points.

However, no man can do it alone. As a team, the Bulldogs were able to score 29 points off of Newcastle turnovers and come up with 18 steals on the night.

Once the Bulldog offense got rolling, it was difficult for the Newcastle Dogies to come up with a way to stop them and the Sundance Bulldogs walked away with a 65-46 victory over the Dogies.

The boys won one of their three games played at the Bobcat Invitational.

The Sundance Bulldogs will break for the holiday season and pick up play again on Thurs., Jan. 5 when they host the Newell Irrigators. The Bulldogs will also travel to Big Horn on Jan. 6-7 to participate in the 2A East Challenge.

The winter weather cut the Stateline Shootout short for the Sundance Lady Bulldogs who were able to play only one game on Friday afternoon. Sundance went up against a tough team in the Newcastle Lady Dogies who jumped out to an early lead.

Down 17-29 at the half, the Lady Bulldogs mounted a slight comeback throughout the second half, behind the scoring of freshmen Jaylin Mills, who put in 24 points for the night. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs it wasn’t enough and they fell to the Lady Dogies 36-58.

The Sundance Lady Bulldogs will have a break over the holiday season and pick up play on Jan. 6-7 when they travel to Burns to participate in the 2A East Challenge.
