Jesse Guidinger was over from Manhattan yesterday and reports that elk are fast cleaning up the crops on Williams Divide. The animals destroyed three wheat stacks for Williams Bros. and are now visiting the alfalfa and seed stocks every night in spite of repeated driving and scaring them away. It is high time the line was drawn between real game and a monstrous nuisance.

Lawrence Good started this week on the ice harvest from Medicine Lake. The ice is of fine quality and there is any amount of it.

Thomas Matthews and Billy Driskill were up from Spearfish Tuesday and installed a radio set for demonstration before members of the American Legion. The Legion is investigating with the view of purchasing a set. Although storm conditions probably interfered, a good impression of the possibilities of radio was gained.

Santa Claus is scheduled to make another appearance and his last one in Sundance when he will appear at the Commercial Theater to pass out Christmas treats to the kids for the Sundance Commercial Club. Previous to the appearance of old Claus the grade school students will present a program at the theater that includes instrumental and vocal solos and duets and recitations.

Delivery of the mobile power unit into Sundance from Mountain View, Wyoming hit another snag Tuesday night. The delay this time was brief and happened because the trucking concern and driver ran afoul of the law after they were stalled at the Carlile bridge across the Belle Fourche river because the unit loaded on a low-boy truck could not pass under. It seems that as the driver and helper were reloading on this side of the bridge the driver was approached by Highway Patrolman Vorhies and requested to produce his special permit. Not having such permit, the driver was arrested and brought before Sidney Harvey, Justice of the Peace, where he pled guilty. Upon payment of the fine in the amount of $50.00 and costs he was released and upon obtaining the necessary permit, proceeded on into Sundance with the power unit.

Medical services in Hulett are seen as becoming possible if enough people in that area are interested in such a service. A meeting to explore the interest has been scheduled in Hulett sometime in January.

A fire at the propane gas tank behind the Turf Bar Saturday night caused little damage and was out when the Sundance Volunteer Fire Department answered the call. Fire Chief Mervin Peterson said Nelson Vineyard, RC Oil Co., was filling the tank when the tank fumes apparently ignited. The fire went out after burning the fumes. Peterson said the fire scorched paint on a camper owned by Glen Nairn.
