CCMSD questions red-level transmission status

Masks are still required inside the Crook County Memorial Hospital, and regular testing is still taking place, but it’s becoming increasingly unclear as to why.

CEO Micki Lyons told the Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD) Board of Trustees last week that the hospital is following the protocols laid out by the Centers for Disease Control for when a county is experiencing high levels of COVID-19 community transmission.

However, she said, “We’re not really seeing any positives.”

Because the number of cases is so low, Lyons said she is unsure as to why the county remains in the red. At that time, the Wyoming Department of Health listed just three active lab-confirmed cases in Crook County and no COVID-19 patients within the hospital since November 1, when one patient was admitted.

Lyons said the district is in the process of reaching out to state health representatives to find out why the red-level status is still ongoing. In the meantime, the district will continue to follow CDC protocols and there will be no changes to visitation within the hospital.
