If the leftovers are all gone, that must mean it’s time for the Christmas season to begin. In traditional style, Sundance will be kicking off the holidays next weekend with a range of festive events.
This year, the theme for the parade and associated activities will be “Glowing Christmas Memories”.
The Sundance Chamber of Commerce’s annual Parade of Lights will be glistening through the downtown on December 2 this year, with line-up beginning at 4:30 p.m. and the parade itself setting off an hour later. The entries will be judged in two categories: overall appearance and originality.
If you wish to take part in the parade, make sure your entry form has been dropped off at City Hall or Sundance State Bank by Monday, November 28 or emailed to [email protected].
Entrants are asked not to throw items such as candy from the floats, although you may still hand it out along the route. Horses are allowed, but fireworks and Santas are not. Questions may be directed to Dorothy Greenwood at (307) 267-1665.
If you took part in Small Business Saturday® during Thanksgiving weekend and entered the punch card raffle, listen out for the winner to be announced. Every punch card turned in has a chance to win $250 in Sundance Bucks.
While the floats prepare themselves to shine, and until the last one has passed by, Rehab Solutions on Main Street invites you to stop in for cocoa and cookies and warm your chilly toes.
Following the parade, head over to the community room in the courthouse basement, where a chili feed will be taking place to benefit the Crook County EMTs. Meanwhile, over at the Crook County Museum, visits are welcomed to enjoy an open house and an early opportunity to give your Christmas list to Santa; the annual candy contest will also be taking place.
