J.W. Zane purchased the frame building on the Rodhdale property and is moving it to the hotel property preparatory to building an ice house.
Otis Zimmerschied, sheriff-elect of Crook County, was in from his Carlile ranch Monday arranging for a sale of his personal effects on Saturday. Otis will close out his ranching business and move to Sundance to enter upon the duties of office. E.M. Blakeman accompanied him on the trip here Monday.
A mass meeting of citizens and young men of Sundance will be held at the Commercial Club hall next Tuesday evening for the purpose of organizing a volunteer fire department. Let every man turn out and lend his support to this movement.
The newest wrinkle in moonshining was unearthed at a ranch forty miles north of Rock Springs. According to authorities a distillery equipped with a radio sending and receiving apparatus was located by a prohibition posse. The agents seized a 60-gallon still and 30 gallons of mash.

November 27, 1947
The timber stand of the Black Hills region is now suffering the heaviest insect infestation that has occurred since the one that was so disastrous about 50 years ago, according to A.F. Hoffman, Supervisor of the Black Hills Forest. All of the infested trees will die by late spring and control measures are under way to prevent the further spread of the infestation.
A select group of Sundance men will meet with Ranger Beckley for instruction in the use and operation of the forest service fire fighting truck which has been placed at the disposal of the town of Sundance and which is now being stored at the C.D. Roberts hardware building. The men selected are William Mauch, William Hopson, Frank Blakeman, Rex and Leon Dillon, Lester Mauch, Swede Nussbaum, Alfred Vines, Floyd Carr and John Trotter.
The deer kill for Crook County during the season just ended has been estimated at 400 by Deputy Game Warden D.C. Hall of Sundance. Hall's estimate of the total kill broken down was: 284 white tail buck deer; 25 mule buck deer and 91 unclassified as meaning hunter's loss including does killed and crippled bucks.

Alan Bailey, SHS senior and all-conference defensive end, has been named to the Associated Press Class B all-state team. Bailey was also named second string end on the UP all-state team, according to SHS head football coach Neil Hoffine, who said Bailey also received honorable mention in the Casper Star-Tribune's all-state football club.
