Bulldogs run at Big Horn

The Sundance Bulldogs traveled to Big Horn to compete in the Big Horn Equestrian Center Meet on Fri., Sept. 9.

The Bulldog varsity ran a 5000-meter race. Sophomore Angel Villegas finished in a time of 20.50.8. Wyatt Flahaven, sophomore, crossed the finish line in 21:50. Sophomore Holden Ayer finished in 22:32.8 while senior Kort McLaughlin competed in 22:50.8. Sophomore Jager McLaughlin rounded out the Bulldog varsity team crossing the finish line in 23:50.2.

The Bulldog junior high runners competed in a 3000-meter race in Big Horn.

Eighth-grader Maddison Neiman finished 19th out of 142 runners, crossing the finish line in a time of 13:56.9. Sixth-grader Eva Stark finished in 16:16.8. Seventh-grader Rylan Asheim competed in a time of 15:55, shaving off 2:24 seconds from the week’s previous meet. Neiman and Stark also ran faster times than the Northern Hills Invite.

“We’re still seeing improvements in our runners, as it is early in the season. This week, we focused on mental strength and pushing through to the end,” co-coach Ann Marie Mickle said.

The Bulldogs compete in the Eldon Knudson Invitational in Custer on Thurs., Sept. 15.
