Mar. 23, 1922

Road conditions have improved wonderfully the past week, and at the present it is reported fair to Rocky Ford, and good from there to Spearfish. It will be several days before auto travel opens to the west to Moorcroft or Upton.

Government trapper Evans was in for supplies, and reports poor luck on account of the heavy snows, says the Gillette Record. He has been engaged in the vicinity of the Lee & Spaeth ranch. The snow fills the runways of the wild creatures, and the wolves in particular scatter out in their wanderings. He reports his catch so far as one wolf and forty-two coyotes.

We have it on good authority that when the cows are turned loose in the early spring, Arthur J. Montgomery will say good bye to cow-punching and hoisting his faithful henakin to the uppermost rafter in the barn, will take up farmering for a pastime. Art says that from now on he will be a disturber of the soil.

The Elk Horn Café in Sundance was closed Monday of last week and is now undergoing extensive remodeling and decorating, Fredia Oudin, proprietor, announces, with Ralph Hoyer doing the painting.

Merton Ellsbury, Aladdin, has recently purchased the registered Brown Swiss bull Graceful Buster from Roy Ramey, St. Onge, according to a report from Fred S. Idtse, secretary of the Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders’ association.

Melby Tracy, manager of the Tracy Motor Co., in Moorcroft, became the owner last week of the Avon theater in Moorcroft when he purchased from Clinton Kipp.

Crook County did a booming business in real estate lots in the town of Moorcroft at the last meeting of the board of county commissioners when that body issued quit claim deeds on county owned property to 124 lots in the town of Moorcroft. The biggest purchase of lots was made by Security Trust and Title Co. of Sundance when that company was issued quit claim deeds for 106 lots for a consideration of $876.00.

Mar. 16, 1972

Crook county Republicans meeting in Sundance named central committee officers and delegates to the state convention. Raymond Dennis, New Haven, was re-elected chairman of the Crook County Republican Central Committee. Other officers are Gerald Storie, vice president; Mrs. Glen Wyatt, vice chairwoman; Cecil Hughes, state committeeman; and Mrs. Neal Garman, state committeewoman.

Crook County Democrats named state convention delegates and elected county officers during their county convention Saturday. Robert E. Vore, Beulah, was re-elected chairman of the county Democratic Central Committee. Other officers are Jane D. Norman, vice chairwoman; Karen Glover, secretary; Joe Graham, treasurer; Meritt Barton, state committeeman; and Caroline Barton, state committeewoman.

Two Sundance boys are included on the Northeast 2A All Conference Basketball Team for the 96-97 season. The two are Chris Livingston, a 5’10” senior and Travis Richards, a 6’4” senior. Receiving honorable mention are: Shannon Kling, Zach Miller and Chris Marchant from Sundance.
