Senior Services helps with Christmas wishes

"Can I work on Christmas?" This was question that was posed to Jenna Ellsbury from one of the transportation drivers, Janet Grubb.

Crook County Senior Services (CCSS) is closed on Christmas Day, but Grubb was informed that the only Christmas wish for one senior was to go to a Christmas church service. Grubb wanted to take her, but needed a wheelchair accessible van.

Ellsbury stated that this was just one of many Christmas wishes that was presented to CCSS. 

The ladies at CCSS have had so much fun with Christmas this year. We had fun Christmas crafts in the centers and others that were sent out to be completed in homes, had a big craft bazaar at the administrative office.

On Thursday, CCSS was able to provide a free Christmas roast beef lunch. Ellsbury stated that we sent the vans out and brought in everyone we could think of and we sent Santa and Mrs. Claus out to deliver meals to those who couldn't attend.

CCSS served 134 Christmas meals. The Christmas meal was made a success with the help of Powder River Foundation, Sundance Food Bank, Church of Latter-Day Saints, Mr. And Mrs. Claus and our volunteers.

There were other Christmas wishes that CCSS helped with. A veteran asked for assistance with purchasing wood pellets to heat his home. Home Depot donated a pick-up full.

"I am so thankful for everyone with CCSS and all of our volunteers. Everyone who helps with our program has such a big heart and that's why they are here." Ellsbury stated.
