Ghosts and ghouls are headed to town

The spooky season is upon us and there will be two local opportunities to enjoy a few bone-chilling surprises over the next couple of weeks – whether you’re a little one looking for a friendly fright or an adult planning to help with the haunting.

The first will be the Trunk or Treat and carnival in the Sundance High School parking lot on October 23. The chance to fill a pail with candy will be available between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

If you would like to dress up your vehicle – and your own person – to the Halloween delight of all and hand out treats to the little ones as they pass by, call 283-1007 to book your slot in the line-up.

After the Trunk or Treat, a Halloween Carnival will begin, lasting from 4 to 7 p.m. A costume contest begins at 5:30 p.m., while some of the other games include balloon darts, football throw and plinko.

Make a donation to throw a pie at an athlete, have your face painted or find out what the rest of the year has in store for you from the fortune teller.

Hungry after all that fun? As well as comforting fare such as popcorn and cotton candy, brave visitors can treat themselves to spooky dinners including road kill and boo-dogs (don’t worry, it’s really hotdogs and pulled pork), washed down with pond scum (water) and finished out with a coffin cookie.

On All Hallow’s Eve itself, October 31, the Masonic Lodge will be hosting a Trick or Treat extravaganza, set to include everything from candy to clowns and balloons to refreshments between 5 and 8 p.m. Contact 208-521-7434 for more information.
