The Sundance Bulldog cross country team earned a second-place team finish at the Rentas Memorial Cross Country Meet Sat., Oct. 2 in Wright.
The weather called for a beautiful day of running as the Bulldog Varsity team competed in the final 5000-meter race of their regular season.
Senior Andrew Davis placed fifth in a time of 20:49. Freshman Angel Villegas finished eighth in a time of 21:24. Freshmen Holden Ayer and Wyatt Flahaven crossed the finish line in times of 22:23 and 22:27, placing 10th and 13th, respectively. Freshman Kyten Johnson finished in a time of 24:06, placing 15th, while junior Kort McLaughlin placed 17th in a time of 24:36.
Sixth-grader Carter Croell finished his 3000-meter race in a time of 15:38.
"The boys pushed for success this week," said co-coach Ann Marie Mickle. "What we saw at the finish line is the product of hard work and determination. Each runner worked to decrease time and move up in the rankings."
The goal for the next two weeks is to continue working toward faster race times and preparing the Bulldogs for more state-qualifying times at the conference meet.
The Bulldogs have a bye week before competing in the conference meet Fri., Oct. 15 in Hulett. The 2A State Cross Country meet is Oct. 23 in Ethete.
