North Dakota man given deferred sentence for possession

A North Dakota man faces possession charges after he was pulled over for speeding on the highway in January and marijuana products were found in his vehicle.

According to court reports, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper noticed a black vehicle traveling above the speed limit near mile marker 20 of Highway 585. The trooper reports he performed a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Paul Uskevicz, and his female passenger.

Uskevicz allegedly stated that the vehicle was a rental and he was on his way to visit a family member in hospital in Denver. The trooper noticed an air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror and reported he could smell the odor of raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Uskevicz allegedly admitted there was a small amount in the vehicle and that he had a pipe in his left sock.

According to the trooper’s report, a pat down of Uskevicz confirmed that there was indeed a pipe in his sock containing suspected raw marijuana. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed paper receipts from two marijuana dispensaries and a five-gallon bucket in the trunk containing marijuana dispensary containers inside bags.

The bags weighed approximately 11.72 ounces in total, including packaging. Also located were ten white dispensary containers containing suspected marijuana weighing approximately 12.39 ounces with packaging.

Uskevicz allegedly admitted the marijuana was for his personal use throughout the year.

Uskevicz pled guilty to a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Judge John R. Perry gave him a deferred sentence pending successful completion of three years of supervised probation.
