Learning is in our nature

New nature books donated to Crook County Library

Wyoming Tree Farm and Wyoming Project Learning Tree (WY PLT) recently donated books to the Crook County Library to benefit our youth. Wyoming Tree Farm Chairman Ed Mignery and WY PLT Coordinator Jessie Halverson met with Sundance Youth Services Librarian Bonnie Stahla to donate the books.

The books include Owls, Whoo Are They?, Where Do Rivers Go, Momma? and Greening Up.

"Outreach to youth about nature and forests is important to both Wyoming Tree Farm and Wyoming Project Learning Tree," said Mignery.

"These books will provide useful information to students who want to learn more about owls, the water cycle or forests," said Halverson.

These organizations have teamed up in the past to provide educational walks in the forest to local youth, education workshops for educators and an outdoor classroom at Sundance Elementary.

Wyoming Tree Farm is the state organization of the American Tree Farm System. They work to give private forest landowners the tools they need to be effective stewards. WY PLT is the state organization of Project Learning Tree and provides a balanced natural resource curriculum to Wyoming educators.
